Longfellow Students Present to Community

Longfellow 5th graders presented their YardScaping knowledge to family, friends, and community members. Attendees asked questions, toured the rain garden and yard test plots, and took home handouts and soil test kits so they could begin making improvements to their own yards.

The students presented on:

  • Yard Waste

  • Healthy Soils

  • Soil Erosion

  • Aerating

  • Topdressing

  • Overseeding

  • Mowing

  • Lawncare Products

  • Watering Wisely

This amazing unit is funded by the City of Portland through the Greener Neighborhoods Cleaner Streams program and taught by the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District.
