YardScaping with Longfellow Students

Every Wednesday and Friday in May, the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District worked with Longfellow 5th graders to research yard care practices to help build healthy soil and protect water quality. The students worked in small groups to study the following topics:

  • Watersheds

  • Rain Gardens

  • Soil Erosion

  • Healthy Soil

  • Pest Control

  • Fertilizer

  • Aerating

  • Topdressing

  • Overseeding

  • Watering Wisely
