2019 Green Neighbor Family Fest

Spring has sprung, and despite the little bit of snow we got this week, temperatures are on the rise!  As the snow begins to melt, we'll inevitably end up with water running off our lawns and streets, down our storm drains and into local waterways (like the Capisic Brook) that flow into Casco Bay.  Along the way, this water picks up everything from pet waste to plastic trash bags, which end up polluting streams, rivers, and even the ocean.  In fact, polluted runoff like this is the number one cause of water quality issues in the State of Maine.  So what can you do to help reduce your impact and work towards cleaner water in our communities? The 2019 Green Neighbor Family Fest is coming up next Saturday, April 20th, and we'd love for you to join us!  This event directly follows the 8th annual Urban Runoff 5k, and is the annual kick off for the City of Portland's Greener Neighbors Cleaner Streams program.  Around 37 green-themed organizations from the Greater Portland area will be participating with hands-on activities for youth, games, and entertainment for the whole family!  Check out our 2019 festival participants below.  Hope to see you there!
